Event Description

"From Sacred Wrath" centers around an Armenian-American family who shares mixed emotions as the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide approaches: a grandmother who is unable to share her story of survival, as she is still traumatized by her escape; a young woman who forges ties to a Turkish journalist much to the chagrin of her patriotic father and brother, who vows to fight for the future of his homeland.

This timely play, written and directed by Taleen Babayan, reflects the various outlooks and struggles facing Armenians around the world today as the centennial of the Armenian Genocide approaches. The themes of denial, ethnic patriotism, reconciliation, and human rights abuses are explored and come to life on stage through the talented cast of professional and diverse actors including Jamie Alana, Nora Armani, Constance Cooper, Ani Djirdjirian, Cihangir Duman, Haig Hovnanian, Karnig Nercessian and Raffi Wartanian.

"From Sacred Wrath" will be performed on Saturday, April 18 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Davenport Theatre, located at 354 West 45th Street in New York City.

"From Sacred Wrath" is in English with some Armenian lines, which will be translated in the commemorative play booklet. Run time: 1 hour and 30 minutes, including one intermission. Limited seating.

*Please make note that the balcony seats can only be reached by stairs. There is no elevator on the premises.
